Margaret Jean Nicholson Lowe

July 19, 1930 – Sept. 29, 2021

Margaret Jean Nicholson Lowe happily made the transition to Heaven to meet Jesus. She also met her beloved husband, John Roy, and son, Roy Michael. She was never able to get over their loss so what a happy day it is for her. Margaret was the fourth child of Glen and Edna Harms Nicholson and was born in her parents’ house out in the country southwest of Burlington, Wyo., during the Great Depression. Margaret was an intelligent, loving, and hard-working woman. She was rather shy but liked people and loved working with the public and learning all about the work that goes into state, county, and local government. She was a fantastic typist and got her 70 word a minute pin in her first year typing class on a manual typewriter. Through her 35 year secretarial career, she was proud of the fact that she only had to apply for the first job she had - the other jobs were offered to her as she worked for ASCS, County Attorney, County Agricultural Agent, Home Demonstration Agent, County Fair, County Weed and Pest, and was Deputy County Clerk for 15 years, Deputy County Assessor 3 years, Secretary for Burlington School District 4 years, and was bookkeeper for the Otto School District and Burlington Farmer's Canal Company. After retiring in 1984, she and John Roy worked several years for Holly Sugar Company in the Sugar Beet Leaf Hopper Program. She served several years on the Burlington School Board and on the Burlington Cemetery Board.

She was a ranch wife, mother to her beloved sons, Mike and Randy, and homemaker. She loved big family get-togethers at her house and dearly loved her grandchildren and spent many happy hours having fun with them on the ranch. She loved music, especially Southern Gospel, and played guitar and piano for her own enjoyment. Her dog Tuffy sat on the piano bench to listen to her play the piano and sing. She was an artist and loved painting pictures, selling enough to once buy a dining table, chairs, and china closet for their dining room. She has pictures hanging in homes in many states as well as locally. She painted individual pictures of her grandkids and loved painting scenery featuring eagles, her favorite. She enjoyed sewing and made many of her clothes, crocheted and gave away many afghans and embroidery working. She loved to write and wrote many poems, her life history, her mother's family history, and John Roy's history, along with his family history. She liked to travel and was able to squeeze in visits to 17 states, Canada, and Mexico.

Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Roy, of 60 years, her son, Roy Michael, her parents Glen and Edna Nicholson, brother Robert and wife Carolene, sister Maxine Boynton, and several brothers and sisters in-law, many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her sister Marie Hendricks, brother Jerry and wife Hulene, daughter-in-law Carol Lowe, grandchildren Eric Lowe (Traci), Kimberly Thueson (Sean), Nathan Lowe (Jennifer), Wendy Vigil (James), and Vicki Collingwood (Travis), son Randy (Kenli), grandchildren Dana McKim (Shad), and Tracey Tharp, and great-grandchildren Michael, McKenna and Isaac Thueson, Thayne and Claire Lowe, Jocelin, Waylon, Presley and Asa Vigil, Trent and Shane Lowe, Aidan and Corey Collingwood, Bret Ashley and Austin (Chelsea) Tharp, Damian and Jaxon McKim, sister-in-law, Pat (Charles), and their families and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
