Ted Neves Asay Nov. 21, 1937 – Feb. 14, 2020

Merry Ann Gorbutt Asay passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, in Utah at the age of 81. She joined her husband of 60 years, Ted Neves Asay, who passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, at the age of 82. 

Ted and Merry Ann were high school sweethearts at Lovell High School. They married February 15, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple. They settled in Garden Grove, California, and grew their family with the addition of four children in the 1960s.

Merry was born on Christmas Day, 1939, in Lovell to Martha Ann
McArthur Gorbutt and
Mearl C. Gorbutt. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Richard, Betty, Bruce and Newton. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Dione Gorbutt.

Ted was born November 21, 1937, in Lovell to Lucy Alice Neves (Cox) Asay and Reed Asay. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Carol, Della Rae, Reed Jr., Richard and Phyllis. He is survived by his sisters Carla Lowe, LuAnn Brandt and Cheri Frary.

Ted and Merry are survived by their children, Kathy (Greg) Chilcote of Orem, Utah, Brenda Asay of Summerlin, Nevada, Michael (Lori) Asay of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, and Todd (Michele) Asay of Huntington Beach, California, along with 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A joint graveside service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. at the Lovell Cemetery.
