Sheraldean Shallman Jones

Sheraldean Shallman Jones

Sept. 29, 1940 – July 29, 2021

Sheraldean Shallman Jones, wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and great-grandmother, died surrounded by family in her home in Lovell on Thursday, July 29, 2021.

Sheraldean was born in Lovell on September 29, 1940. At age 2 she lost her mother, Jennie, due to complications related to diabetes and her father, Guy, four years later in an automobile accident. She was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Frank and Chasty Reasch, and her doting uncles Frank, Phil, Rex and Jerry.

While in high school, Sheraldean participated in Future Teachers of America, Future Homemakers of America and intramural basketball. She graduated from Lovell High School and attended the University of Wyoming for a period of time.

Though she knew who he was prior, Sheraldean began courting Arnold Edward Jones in 1961. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 22, 1961, and began a wonderful adventure together. They are the parents of six children, Bart, Annette, Jennifer, Michael, Michelle and Kevin. She was a fantastic mother and devoted fan of all that her children and grandchildren were doing. She traveled many miles to watch sporting and other events to support her family. She loved Lovell High School in everything but would cheer for other schools if it involved family.

Sheraldean was a regular face to see when you stopped by Lovell Drug. She worked behind the counter and did bookkeeping for more than 50 years. She worked for Phil and Brent for most of her life and continued to do their books and billing even after retirement from working in the store. Behind the counter she made a heck of a chocolate root beer and a mean milkshake. She loved associating with the people of Lovell and especially her co-workers.

An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she and Ed served together in the Eugene, Oregon, Mission. She learned church and community service from her grandma, Chasty, and has passed that legacy on to her family. She served in several callings in the LDS Church, providing compassionate service to many in need. One of her favorite assignments was serving in the Billings, Montana, Temple. She and Ed served for 17 years before health problems required her to stop.

Sheraldean is survived by her husband, Ed, sons Bart (Karen), Michael (Candida) and Kevin (Tara) and daughters Annette (Rob) Hille, Jennifer (Tim) Jones and Michelle (Craig) Hancock. She has 26 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Guy and Jennie Shallman, brother Guy Shallman, grandparents Frank and Chasty Reasch and uncles Frank, Phil, Rex and Jerry.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 7, at 11 a.m. at the Lovell Stake Center East Chapel at 50 West Main St. in Lovell. Viewings will be held on Friday, Aug. 6, at Haskell Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 7, at the LDS Stake Center from 10 to 10:45 a.m. The service will be broadcast on Facebook Live by clicking on the Haskell Funeral Home Facebook page.
