Camp Bethel board announces purchase of Shell Creek Guest Ranch

After much prayer and tears, the Camp Bethel Board voted unanimously to relocate Camp Bethel off federal land to private land. The board has since purchased the Shell Creek Guest Ranch. The ranch is located 45 minutes west of the current facility.

Assessment data shows student growth

One year ago, as schools were closing due to the emerging threat of COVID-19, the U.S. Department of Education (USED) granted Wyoming a waiver from certain federal assessment and accountability requirements.

What that meant for students is that they would not have to take the statewide assessment, WY-TOPP.  For districts, it meant no formal accountability determinations would be made for the 2019-20 year.

Greybull Valley Produce owner Dwight Koehn approached the council recently, expressing interest in the three smaller lots adjacent to the 3 acres he already owns and directly behind the Scott Good residence on Greybull River Road.

Fair board members in attendance were Tracy Haley, Kelli Mercer, Austin Layne and Thomas Bridges; Warren Adams was not able to attend.

New computers for county libraries

The Big Horn County Library System is reaping the benefits of an endowment fund that was established several years ago and a U.S. stock market that rocketed to all-time highs at the close of 2020.

Twenty-one new computers have been installed in the Basin, Greybull and Lovell branches and the best of the used ones they replaced went to Frannie and Deaver branches, according to Lisa Chestnut, the director of the Big Horn County Library System.
