May 22, 1925
Sheriff W. H. Loomis and assistant have started a county-wide drive on moonshiners and gambling resorts, with the result that orders were issued on Wednesday to discontinue all games of chance such as rummy and solo in pool halls and soft drink parlors in Cody, and all punch boards have been removed.
There was quite an automobile mixup on the Yellowstone highway just this side of the poor farm Saturday night in which one or two persons received slight injuries and two or three cars were considerably damaged. It is said someone, whose name was not learned, had stopped to change or repair a tire, when two other cars, not being able to see each other on account of the light, met head-on in trying to drive by. The collision is said to have been between a car driven by J. S. Tebbs of Cowley and a car driven by a Basin lady who had two children in the car, they were thrown out but not seriously hurt.

Those bent on getting married «right now» may do so in Wyoming. The wait-a- while “gin” law came to an end Saturday. There is no longer any need for those who are in a hurry to get married to go to Montana or any of the surrounding states.
One may now drink beer while seated at a table in a cafe the Wyoming liquor commission has decided. Sale of beer is permissible at lunch counters and at tables in licensed restaurants without the purchase of an order of accompanying food. Accordingly, whether you drink your malt beverage standing up or sitting down, at a bar or at a table, the price may be only 10 cents.
Pearle, little 8-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Ellison of Gould district, suffered a broken arm and dislocated elbow when she fell from a hay rack where she had been playing Monday evening.

The bewhiskered Jaycees of Greybull are causing quite a stir, not only locally but also on a much bigger scale. Now they seem destined for national fame, vying for honors with such notables as Monty Woolley of cinema repute. Fox Movietone news phoned one of the members yesterday morning and asked permission to film the bearded men of Greybull and also the Days of ‘49 parade to be held here June 9.
Now it can be told. During the winter months and early spring several Jap balloons were seen or found in this area, but the army intelligence department requested newspapers to refrain from mentioning them. The balloons are gray, white, or greenish-blue, about 33 feet in diameter. They are known to have landed or dropped in isolated areas, but the attacks should not be viewed with alarm.

George A. Hinman, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hinman off Beaver Creek and graduate of Greybull high school last week, has been accepted to attend the army’s radar repair school at Fort Monmouth, N. J., it is announced by Sgt. Neale Tumbleson, recruiter with headquarters at Casper.
James Duecker, who has been assistant coach in Greybull high school and junior high school basketball coach for the past two years, has been hired as basketball coach for Greybull high school, it was announced by Superintendent J. C. Quigg, following a school board meeting held last Wednesday evening.
Thursday night 42 seniors received their diplomas at the Greybull high school auditorium. Shirley Nelson was named valedictorian and Dixie Presnall salutatorian.

Doc Chambers of Greybull is the reigning Ugliest Man in Wyoming. Contestants for the Ugly Man Contest went into the Art Linkletter show this week. The winner is to appear on the Linkletter house party in June.
Voters in high school district No. 1 and school district 41 will vote Thursday (today) on whether to give the school boards authority to purchase the former Nash-Davis building now occupied by Bryant Motors. By obtaining this building, the school will be able to offer a broader and more comprehensive program in vocational education.
Don Schulyer, who had to battle a typical strong Laramie wind and bad weather won the Class A shot put but failed to best the state mark or his own best mark.
