Claude Ronald "Ron" Gibler, age 89, passed away on June 23, 2022.

Ron was born in Davis City, Iowa to parents Shelby Craig Gibler and Macyl Ellen (Miller) Gibler. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 67 years Betty; his children Patti Tai, Pam Gibler (Robin), Lisa Ganaja (Scott) and Brian Gibler (Lisa); his grandchildren Kirsten Ganaja-Boyd, Jeremy Tai, Ava Gibler, Megan Tai and Cosette Gibler; his brother John Gibler (Dorothy) of Basin, Wyo.; and ex daughter-in-law Sue Gibler.

Ron's family moved to Basin, Wyo., when he was 5 years old. He attended the University of Wyoming on scholarship and graduated from the School of Pharmacy.

Ron enlisted in the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Ord. After his military service, Ron and Betty decided to remain in California and make Pacific Grove their home.

Ron and Betty owned and operated Byers Drug Store in Pacific Grove for several years. When Dyke's Pharmacy was put up for sale, they purchased it. The two stores were combined and they named the new store Grove Pharmacy. For 40 years, Ron operated a busy pharmacy and dispensed helpful advice to a very loyal customer base. He was known to help customers in need to afford their medication. Ron greatly enjoyed being a pharmacist.

Ron received a lifetime membership into both the Wyoming and California Pharmacists Associations. He was a member of the tri-county Pharmacists Association, serving one term as president.

Ron was a member of the Pacific Grove Kiwanis for 20 years and served on the city's Planning Commission. Ron taught California Hunter Safety training courses at Pacific Grove High School when they became required.

Ron's cremated remains will receive a military honor ceremony at Mount View Cemetery in Basin, Wyo. He will be buried next to his parents.

A local service will be held Friday, July 1 at 11 a.m. at Paul's Mortuary, 390 Lighthouse Ave., Pacific Grove. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Pacific Grove Public Library Foundation (www.pglibraryfriends.org/foundation)

A Basin service will be planned at a later date.
