Leona Sessions Foulk

July 22, 1931 – Aug. 14, 2022

Leona Sessions Foulk, age 91, of Greybull, Wyo., has returned to her Father in Heaven on August 14, 2022, surrounded by her family in the New Horizon Care Center in Lovell, Wyo.

She was born on July 22, 1931, in Byron, Wyo., to the parents of Alvin Aytch Sessions and Gladys (Cowley) Sessions.

She married the love of her life, Herbert (Herby) Edward Foulk, on May 14, 1952 in Greybull, Wyo., and later was sealed with her husband and children for time and all eternity in the Bountiful Temple on May 21, 2005. Herbert passed away on Jan. 15, 2000.

Leona was a very hard worker. From the time she was young, she was her father’s tomboy and sidekick, helping to milk the cows on the farm. She helped with the sheep and pigs even though she didn’t like dealing with those animals. She was always helping her family in any way she could. She stayed home a lot with her family as this was her pride and joy. She loved to cook, always making candy and homemade biscuits and breads and delicious pies and casseroles for family and relief society events.

She worked for the newspaper, the Forest Service and Hawkins & Powers, cleaning their facilities with her twin sister Lavon. She also spent many hours attending the temple with Lavon. She enjoyed eating the food from Meals on Wheels. She loved to play cards and domino games and was always getting Bingo blackouts, annoying her sister who just couldn’t quite get there!

Leona was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving faithfully in many various callings throughout her life and loved to be a visiting teacher even to those she was not assigned to and always caring for others. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She also loved Lavon’s children and family, loving them as her own. She shared special bonds with many — too many to name, but you know who you are.

Leona is survived by her son Shasta Foulk and his sweetheart JoAnn Roper, West Jordan, Utah; sister Wilma Gaye (Mike) Haratyk, Boise, Idaho; five grandchildren  Desiree (Andrew) Bowers, Roosevelt, Utah; Kiel Foulk, Sandy, Utah; Sheena (Kolby) LeMaster, Taylorsville, Utah; Jessica (Kaston) Ellington; West Jordan, Utah; Brenton (Shelby) Foulk, West Valley City, Utah; eight great grandchildren Asher Bowers, Kelsi Foulk, Oaklyn Ellington, Liam Bowers, Taytum Ellington, Bentlee Foulk, Beckham Ellington and Quincie Foulk.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert (Herby) Edward Foulk; daughter Gladdys Cloretta (Foulk) Bazri; son in-law Behrooz Bazri; twin sister Lavon (Joe) Castro, Jenny Nash (Alec), Evelyn Croft (Bob), Howard Sessions (Velma), father Alvin Aytch Sessions and mother Gladys (Cowley) Sessions.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Greybull Basin Chapel in Greybull, Wyo. There will be a viewing on Friday, Aug. 19, 2022, from 7-9 p.m. at Atwood Mortuary Funeral Home and prior to the services at the church from 10-10:45 a.m.

A very special thank you to the New Horizons Care Center for the loving attention and great care you gave to our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, Leona Foulk.

Burial will be in the Donald J Ruhl Cemetery in Greybull, Wyo.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Atwood Family Funeral Directors.
