New research indicates prominent topographic features near Cody formed during violent eruption from Yellowstone

Heart Mountain is a giant block of limestone and dolomite that was formed in shallow seas 320-485 million years ago. It sits on rocks that are hundreds of millions of years younger. This enigmatic structure has puzzled geologists for more than 100 years.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has announced Grant Gerharter as its new Cody Region wildlife supervisor.  Gerharter replaces Dan Smith, who was promoted to wildlife division chief.
