Big Horn Co-op to close Basin, Greybull stores

The Big Horn Co-op retail stores in Greybull and Basin, along with those in Buffalo, Powell and Worland will close at the end of December as part of a restructuring announced last week by the cooperative’s board of directors.

Mental health grant lapses, ending funding for county school districts

Funding provided by the CDC and State of Wyoming, which went toward providing mental health resources and education to students and their families in schools across the Big Horn Basin, will lapse at the end of December. The program allocated monies to schools in Cowley, Lovell, Greybull, Burlington and Basin in Big Horn County, and Meeteetse in Park County. 

BHCED nears completion of its conservation guide project

A member of the Big Horn County Citizens for Economic Development (BHCED) board told the county commissioners last month that their conservation guide would be sent to the printer in January and made available to the community sometime in February.

Wildland firefighters face pay cut of up to 50%

If a temporary pay adjustment expires on Dec. 20 of this year with the adjournment of the 118th Congress, 15,000 federal wildland firefighters (WFFs) from the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and Department of the Interior (DOI) face pay cuts of up to 50% of their base pay.
