Consuelo “Connie” (Molina) Coronado

Dec. 2, 1934 - July 14, 2025

Consuelo “Connie” (Molina) Coronado was born Dec. 2, 1934, in Odem, Texas, to Alberta Soto and Baldomero Molina, Sr. She was one of 10 brothers and sisters which included Olga (Eluid “ Lute”) Leyva and Elias Molena who have resided in Worland and Fidel (Pricilla) Molina who currently lives in Worland.

At the young age of 16, Connie married Santiago “James” Seelig Coronado on Aug. 28, 1950.

They began their lives together traveling and working in the agricultural industry in the western United States. As they were raising their eight children, they came to the Big Horn Basin and settled in Basin and surrounding towns, making their final home together in Manderson.

Connie began her career as a housekeeper at the Wyoming Sanitarium in Basin in the late ‘60s. She later moved her career to South Big Horn County Hospital, becoming manager of housekeeping and working there for 30-plus years.

Connie’s passions in her life were her kids, crocheting, puzzles and playing softball. She played for 10 or so years with Bob Hallcroft and Mary Raffl as her team’s managers who later became dear friends. During her slow-pitch softball career, she was a pitcher and was known for her blazing speed on the bases.

She loved following her children around to activities and sports. Sports were a big part of the Coronado family. She also loved to watch western movies and “Little House on the Prairie.” She regularly attended First Baptist Church of Basin, where many of her children were baptized, and later on, Cloud Peak Bible Church. She eventually returned to the First Baptist Church of Basin in her final years. She was a true believer of Christ. That belief along with the strong love for her children held the Coronado family together through thick and thin.

Connie is preceded in death by her father and mother, Baldomero Sr. and Alberta Molina; brothers, Lazaro (Fina) Molina, Baldomero Jr. (Petra) Molina, Olga (Eliud “Lute”) Leyva and Elias Molina; her sisters Alvina (Silverio) Rosalez and Virginia Nunez; husband Santiago “James”; two sons-in-law, Wayne (Yoly) Turner, Cliff (Sali) Miller, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
