Cynthia Lou Dusenberry

May 25, 1967 – March 16, 2021

Cynthia Lou (Baxendale) Dusenberry, 53, of Powell passed away suddenly on March 16, 2021.

Cindy was born in Lovell on May 25, 1967, to Shirley Jean Snuffer and William Eugene Baxendale of Lovell. She was the eldest of three children.

Cindy grew up in Lovell and attended the Lovell schools, graduating from Lovell High School in May 1985. She moved to Billings in the fall of 1985 to attend cosmetology school. She graduated from cosmetology school in the spring of 1987 and moved to Powell to pursue a career as a cosmetologist. She worked at various salons in the Powell area throughout her 30-year career and also owned and operated her own salon called Divinity.

So many people knew Cindy from her career, and she always made everyone laugh and smile. Everywhere she went, even in the desolate areas of the mountains, she found someone that she knew and always had to stop and say hello. When she retired from doing hair, she worked at Modern Hearing Solutions of Wyoming in Powell.

Cindy suffered a stroke on January 30, 2021, and was in the hospital recovering when she passed away. Her family and friends were so proud of the progress she made. She was so determined to get better and had such a positive outlook.

In September of 1995, she married Michael Roy Dusenberry of Powell. Together they had one daughter, Demi Michelle Dusenberry, born on October 22, 1998. Michael and Cindy divorced in 2016, and Michael passed away in September of 2020. Cindy
was the stepmother of Michael’s two children, Amanda Conner and Travis Dusenberry, and the honorary mother of Demi’s best friend, Brooke Tucker.

She was so proud of her daughter’s academic achievements and her artistic talent. She would often share her daughter’s latest artwork with friends and family. She collected her artwork and made stickers of it for her journal. There were always drawings of Demi’s hung up all over the house. Demi currently studies graphic design at the University of Wyoming and will be graduating in May of 2021.

Cindy enjoyed being in the outdoors and enjoyed camping with her family. She loved to work in her garden and took great pride in her flower beds that were full of beautiful flowers from her mother and grandmother’s flower gardens. Cindy loved cooking, reading, journaling, decorating, DIY-ing, organizing, shopping and making trips to Billings to see all her aunts, uncles and cousins.

She often visited her daughter, Demi, and her friend, Brooke, in Laramie for girls’ weekends. She also loved her pet cockatiel, Pipsqueak (Pip), and beagle, Bella. Cindy enjoyed watching true crime documentaries on Netflix and Amazon Prime and spent a lot of time in her home just relaxing and decorating. She loved chalk paint and was always finding new inspiration for overhauling old furniture pieces. Cindy was a creative spirit, just like her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Emmett, son-in-law Seth Conner and former husband Michael Dusenberry.

She is survived by her daughter, Demi Michelle Dusenberry, of Laramie, stepdaughter Amanda Conner of Powell, stepson Master Gunnery Sergeant Travis (Leigh) Dusenberry of Norfolk, Virginia, father William (Kathy) Baxendale of Lovell, brother Bill (Jodie) Baxendale of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, sister Kirra (Tim) Anderson of Lovell and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held in May of 2021. Updates on services and arrangements will be posted to Facebook and shared by friends and family to the community.
