Dolores “Dee” Lee Clifton

Dolores “Dee” Lee Clifton, 94, passed away Nov. 17, 2025, at Westview Healthcare Center in Sheridan, Wyo.

She was born October 23, 1931, in Sheridan, Wyo., to LeRoy Ottis and Bessie Irene (Collins) Sackett. Dee grew up in the Big Horn area and graduated from Big Horn High School in 1949. She went on to earn her associate degree in 1951 from Colorado Wellness in Denver, Colo.

Dee lived a full and active life. She was involved in 4-H and FFA, participated in several local saddle clubs and took part in the Bighorn 100. She loved spending time with friends and family, often gathered around a table playing cards or dominoes. One of the greatest blessings of her life began with a blind date — when she and Roy James “RJ” Clifton met while she was living in Big Horn and he was working a summer job at the Wyoming State Game and Fish bird farm. Dee and RJ married Aug. 19, 1951, and built a loving family and life together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Bessie Sackett, and her brother, Kenneth Sackett.

Dee is survived by her sons, Michael (Pamela) Clifton of Big Horn, Wyo., and Jerry (Debra) Clifton of Greybull, Wyo.; her grandchildren, Aaron James “AJ,” Michaela, and Katie (Josh) Petree; and her great-grandchildren, Ava, Jase, Olivia, and Lucy.

Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned at this time.
