Donald D. Englert

Donald D. Englert died in Lovell on Jan. 5, 2012, of leukemia. Don was born April 20, 1946, in Bridger. He was the 11th child of Jess and Ethel Englert. The family moved to Byron when he was young.He attended elementary and high school in Byron. He took a job working for a topographic firm making maps around the Big Horn Basin. He married Ivy Wambeke in 1966. They had three children, Lisa, Tracey and Deanna. Don began working for the U.S. Geological Survey in 1965. He worked there for eight years. He then took a position with the State Engineer’s Office, Water Resources Division, in Sheridan.He worked in water resources for 32 years, retiring in 2003. He began his dream job of transporting RVs from manufacturers to dealerships. He traveled all over the U.S. and Canada, logging 105 to 125 thousand miles a year. In 2008, he retired and spent the spring and summer in Wyoming and winters in Florida or Arizona. He recently moved to Lovell to be near his grandchildren.He is survived by his wife Ivy, his son Tracey and wife Holly and four grandchildren Dani, Kade, Kaylee and Alex. He was preceded in death by his parents Jess and Ethel, two daughters, Lisa and Deanna, his four brothers, Ken, Alfred, Willard and Gerald, and his two sisters Beverly and Beatrice.Services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lovell.
