Donna Mae Nunn was born on March 28, 1940, and passed away peacefully on May 26, 2021, surrounded by her family in her home north of Cowley.

Donna was born in Miles City, Montana, to Alfred and Ellen Bankey, joining her older sister, Doris. She grew up in Miles City, attending local elementary schools and graduating from Custer County High School in 1957.

She met her future husband, Gene Nunn, in 1958. The couple was married on New Year’s Eve 1959. To this union three sons were born, Todd, Bobby and Tom.

Donna worked a variety of clerical jobs starting in 1957 at Foster Drug in Miles City and ended as secretary for the BLM Wild Horse and Burro Program in Ridgecrest, California. Donna was very detail oriented in her work.

In 2001, she and Gene retired to Cowley. She was very devoted to her friends and family and will be dearly missed.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and son Bobby. She is survived by her husband, Gene; sons Todd (Cathie) and Tom (Tami); grandchildren Kirsten, Dawson, Logan and Ryan; seven great-grandchildren; beloved sister Doris Thibault of Mott, North Dakota; and numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of North Big Horn Hospital, Stillwater Hospice and Haskell Funeral Home for their compassionate care and assistance through this difficult time.

Graveside services were held June 1 at 1 p.m. at the Veterans Cemetery in Miles City. A reception followed at the VFW Hall.
