Eric Frank Krom

Nov. 24, 1953 – April 21, 2021

A loving husband, father, and Poppop, Eric Frank Krom passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at the young age of 67. He was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Nov. 24, 1953 to Harold and Helen Krom. He graduated Southampton College in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in marine science. From there he worked at the Seafood Shop in Wainscott, N.Y., from 1978 to 2007 as a wholesale manager, while raising his daughter Ana Krom Tharp in East Hampton, N.Y.

In 2007, he and his wife Mary Schneier Krom moved to Shell, Wyo., where they bought their dream home to live out their retirement. He worked part time at Dirty Annie’s as a cook, which was one of his passions. He also served on the Shell Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
If he wasn’t at home cooking or smoking up an amazing array of food, he could be found fishing or hunting. He had enjoyed sailing in his early years when he lived on the east coast. He never met a stranger and if you took a moment to start a conversation you would learn so much from a man that loved life and loved to share his passions. His greatest passion in recent years was watching his granddaughter, Ally, grow and teaching her as much as he could.
He is survived by his wife and partner of 50 years, Mary Schneier Krom; his daughter and son in law, Ana and Greg Tharp; his granddaughter (the apple of his eye), Alexandra Stanzione. He also is survived by his mother Helen Krom and brother David Krom. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Edward Krom.

There will be no formal services, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Or as Eric called them a Beer Thirty. In lieu of flowers, Eric and his family wish that donations be made to the Shell Valley Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 112, Shell, WY 82441. Cremation has taken place at the Antelope Butte Crematory in Greybull. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atwood Family Funeral Directors.
