At the Oct. 4 Big Horn County Fair Board meeting, the board voted to sponsor a logo contest. The desire for a new logo has been a discussion for some time.

Fair manager Cash Duncan put together a proposal for board members and they approved it at the meeting.

Duncan has already contacted art teachers from the various school districts within the county. He is also making flyers to distribute throughout the county.

Anyone can enter the contest and submit as many entries as they like. The prize is $250. Imagination, creativity and memories are encouraged for the design.

The logo must include “Big Horn County Fair” and “Basin, WY.” Mountains, animals, sunsets, fence lines, ag equipment and crops are encouraged. No copyrighted images are allowed.

The current logo is a ram’s head. It can be seen on the fair’s website. The contest will create a new image/face for the fair.

In other business:

• The board is considering purchasing a mechanical bull.

• The county is cutting a trench to put in conduit for fiber at the fairgrounds. TCT is donating the labor to put in the fiber.

• The old bathrooms by the campground are torn down.

• The bleachers by the old show arena will be torn down.

• Pricing for the campground was discussed.

• Plaques and signs recognizing the business/organizations that donated to the cost of the multipurpose building were found and will be cleaned up and displayed.

• The 2024 fair was set for July 29-Aug. 4.

• A pig barn work session will be set likely in November.
