Frances Arlene Harvey Swajkoski died Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Blakely Hall in Elon, North Carolina. She was 94. Born in Draper, S.D., to Robert A. Harvey, Jr. and Ina Bryan Harvey on June 14, 1929, Fran grew up on a farm in Greybull, Wyo. Fran had a green thumb and always filled her homes and porches with blooming plants. She loved to bake bread and cinnamon buns and many friends and co-workers were happy recipients of baskets of her bread and her homemade jellies and jams.
One of her passions was quilting. During her lifetime, she lovingly made quilts for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The mother of three sons, Fran was also an enthusiastic follower of athletics. She used her television almost exclusively to watch sports.
Fran is survived by two sons, John Swajkoski (Bea) of Burlington, N.C., and Alan Swajkoski (Missy) of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren, Franny Apel (Peter) of Roanoke, Va., Katie Marconi (Ben) of Mount Airy, Md., John David Swajkoski (Kenzie) of Burlington, N.C., Robbie Swajkoski (Jenny Mac) of Boise, Mary Carol Adams (Ryan) of Burlington, N.C. and Jenny Swajkoski (Alex Dalgleish) of Missoula, Mont. She is also survived by her two sisters, Lucille Roehrkasse of Laramie, Wyo., and Marlys Good of Greybull, Wyo.
She was preceded in death by her son, Brian, and her former husband, John S. Swajkoski.
