Frank Remmelsberger

Feb. 18, 1943 - Feb 2. 2023

Former Otto, Wyo., resident Frank Remmelsberger, 79, lost his battle with cancer and entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, at a hospice facility in Phoenix, Ariz.

Mr. Remmelsberger was born Feb. 18, 1943, in Yugoslavia, to Franz and Mary Remmelsberger. He migrated to the U.S. when he was a young boy and grew up in New Brunswick, N.J.

Frank graduated from high school and continued his education at Hope College in Holland, Mich., where Frank became good friends with the brother of the woman he would marry – Rebecca Pearson. The two married on Feb. 9, 1974, and soon moved to San Diego where they would raise their family.

Frank retired from his job as a computer programmer/systems analyst with the San Diego School District in 1999 and soon after he decided to pursue his dream of being a cowboy. In 2001, Frank and Rebecca purchased a ranch off Road 16 ½ on the outskirts of town in Otto, Wyo., and made it their home. Rebecca died in a tragic accident in 2006, but Frank remained at the ranch until he was diagnosed with stage four metastatic prostate cancer 2021. He sold the ranch and relocated to Gilbert, Ariz., to live with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson.

Over the past two years, Frank endured multiple treatments under the care of Mayo Clinic Oncology and Palliative care teams in Phoenix, Ariz. On Jan. 19, Frank was hospitalized for kidney failure due to the progression of the cancer and on Jan. 21, he was transferred to the Sherman House hospice care facility c/o Hospice of the Valley.

Frank was known for being strong and quiet – a man of few words. He was always hard- working, determined and happy to teach others. He was loving and caring – in his own way. And he was a beloved father and grandfather, mentor and a faithful servant to our heavenly Father.

"Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s."

— Psalm 103:1-5

Mr. Remmelsberger is survived by his sister, Fredricka Dix; one daughter and her spouse, Beth and Leslie Gutierrez and their son, Roman Gutierrez, and one son Brett Remmelsberger and his spouse, Heather Remmelsberger.
