John Michael Seitz

John Michael Seitz

Oct. 21, 1949 – June 8, 2021

John Michael Seitz died June 8, 2021.

John was born in Powell on October 21, 1949, to Doyle and Ruth Seitz. He grew up in the Deaver area and attended Deaver-Frannie schools. After graduation he attended the University of Wyoming, where he pursued an English degree and spent time singing with the University of Wyoming Chorale. He never finished his degree,
but his interest in music continued for the rest of his life.

After college he spent some time in Utah working on oil drilling rigs, then moved back to the family farm in Deaver.

He married Peggy Ann Kessel on August 10, 1979. In 1987 John and Peggy adopted a daughter, Jennifer, and in 1991 their son, Samuel, was born.

John became a rancher and raised alfalfa and cattle. He worked hard to improve the farm, his favorite place to be. He always said he felt like he was living his father’s dream.

John attended Garland Community Church of God for most of his life. He was actively involved, leading music for the congregation. A man of faith, he loved God, his family and his friends. John was always the first to help, and he was generous to those in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles and sister Suzanne.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy, daughter Jennifer (Daniel) Seitz-Hernandez, son Samuel (Laura) Seitz, grandchildren Colton and Peyton, brother Mack and sister Pam.

A service was held on Tuesday, June 15, at the Deaver Town Hall.
