Johnny H. Herren

Nov. 27, 1936 – Sept. 30, 2022

Longtime Greybull resident Johnny H. Herren, 85, passed away at Bonnie Bluejacket Care Center on Sept. 30, 2022. 

Johnny was born on Nov. 27, 1936, in Greybull, Wyo., to Hans and Frieda Sophie (Reist) Herren.  

Johnny spent his life farming and ranching on Lower Shell Creek until he retired and moved to Greybull. Johnny attended Stone School between Greybull and Shell through eighth grade. He married Georgie Riedeman in Moab, Utah, in 1962, and to this union was born one daughter, Penny Jean. After Georgie passed away, Johnny moved to the nursing home where he met and married Larna Eaton Edwards in 2008. Johnny was a member of Greybull Elks 1431 and enjoyed bowling and travelling. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Georgie (Riedman) in 2004; brother, Paul Herren in December of 2013 and son-in-law Terry Winter in 2017. 

Survivors include his loving wife, Larna; daughter, Penny Winter of Bellingham, Wash.; brothers, Roy (Loretta) Herren of Billings, Mont., and Harry (Donna) Herren of Greybull; grandsons Patrick, Jonathan, and Bryan Winter, all of Washington state; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Graveside services will be held at the Odessa Cemetery in Shell, Wyo., 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7, 2022.  Memorial donations in Johnny’s memory payable to the Odessa Cemetery would be greatly appreciated by the family, care of Donna Herren, 3222 Rd. 31½ Greybull, WY 82426.
