Juan Manuel Garay-Vasquez
February 8, 1960 – October 30, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Juan Manuel Garay-Vasquez, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and devout Catholic, who departed this world on Oct. 30, 2023, at his home in Greybull, Wyo., surrounded by his beloved family. He was 63 years old.
Juan was born on Feb. 8, 1960, in Santiago Aguascalientes, Mexico, to his parents Julio and Juana Garay (Vasquez). On Sept. 16, 1976, he entered into a lifelong commitment when he married Maria de Jesus Gutierrez, and their union was blessed with six wonderful children.
Juan Manuel was a man of many passions. He found solace and joy in the great outdoors, where he loved to fish, hunt, and camp. His connection to nature was deep, and he cherished every moment spent in its embrace. Juan also loved cars, from semis to tiny sports cars. Arts and crafts were a big part of his life as well. His house is full of creations he made from different shades of wood and antlers. His children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he treasured the time he spent with them, imparting wisdom and creating lasting memories.
His unwavering faith in God was evident to all who knew him. Juan was a devoted Catholic who found strength and guidance in his religion. His love for God was reflected in his kindness and compassion toward others, and he leaves behind a legacy of faith and goodness.
Professionally, Juan was a dedicated and hardworking truck driver. He operated his own truck and took great pride in his work, ensuring that his cargo was delivered with care and precision. His strong work ethic and commitment were a testament to his character.
Juan was preceded in death by his father, Julio Garay; brothers: Baby Francisco, Cesar and Obdulio Garay, baby sister, Laura Garay, nephew, AJ Garay and great-grandchild, Carmelo Deniz.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maria; mother, Juana; children: Julio Garay of Mexico; Juan Carlos (Stephanie) Garay of Basin, Cynthia (Omar) Güitrón of Greybull, Jeremiah (Megan) Gillis of Cody, Jose Garay of Greybull, Emanuel (Ivorey) Garay of Powell and Maria (Luis) Morales of Greybull; grandchildren: Nathaniel, Fabian, Wesley, Alicia, Alexis, Teresa, Bentley, Lucia, Haley, Jayden, Arabella, Diego, Jada, Amber, Nicholas, Maya, Caro, Veronica, Joaquin and Anastasia; great-grandchildren: Izaya and Sophia; brothers: Oscar (Vicky) Garay of Greybull, Edgar (Ana) Garay of Greybull, and Alvaro (Jackie) Garay of Montana; sisters: Albertina (Jose) Araiza of Aguascalientes, Mexico; Guille (Martin) Sosa of Greybull; Norma (Hector) Gallegos of Greybull; Laura (Jorge) Carmona of Mexico; Lupe (Salvador) Davila of Greybull; Claudia (Felipe) Gayton of Greybull; Abelardo Garay of California and Carmela Garay of Texas.
A visitation to celebrate Juan’s life will be held on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, at 6 p.m., with a rosary following. A Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at 10 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Greybull, Wyo. Father Glen Szczechowski will officiate the service. Graveside services will follow at the Donald J Ruhl Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to help assist the Garay family with funeral costs.
