LaVon Sessions Castro

July 22, 1931 – May 7, 2021

LaVon Sessions Castro, at the age of 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 7, 2021, to return to our loving Heavenly Father. LaVon, daughter of Alvin and Gladdys Sessions, was born July 22, 1931, with her lifelong partner in crime twin sister Leona Foulk. She grew up in Byron, Wyo., with her four other siblings, Evelyn, Jennie, Howard, and Willma Gaye. Whenever they weren’t helping out their dad with working and milking cows, tending to the garden, or in the kitchen with their mom, you could find her causing mischief with her sister and cousins.

LaVon graduated high school in 1950 and soon after found the love of her life, Joseph Roy Castro. They got married in Byron, Wyo., on May 15,1953, and later getting sealed at the Salt Lake Temple. She loved going to church with her family and had many callings in the church. She had a way of bringing everyone together especially on her favorite holiday, Christmas, in which she would have decorations and a buffet ready for all to enjoy.

LaVon had three loving children, Alvin, Calvin, and Berta; all living in Greybull, Wyo. Anyone who came in contact with her felt the love and light she had and welcomed everyone into her home with open arms. LaVon was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. She loved spending time with each and every one of them. You would never go home on an empty stomach or hands; she always sent stuff home with you. When it was time to go, she would wave as you left the driveway from her porch and stay there until she couldn’t see you anymore.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joe; parents Alvin and Gladys; siblings Evelyn, Jenni, Howard and endless relatives.

She is survived by her sisters Leona Foulk and Wilma Gaye; her children Alvin (Diane) Castro, Calvin (Jan) Castro, Berta (Leo) Conner; grandkids Scotty (Doris), Gabe (Julie), Chrissy, Al Robert (Heather), Natalie (Tavo), Leslie (Russell), Josiah (Jennifer), Sonia (Frank) Anastasia (Spencer), Coltan, Shayla, Dalton, McKade and Heath. Along with her 36 great grandchildren and 10 great great-grandkids. Along with many nieces and nephews and numerous relatives and friends. A special thank you to the staff members at the Horizon Healthcare Center who took great care of her. We are sorry if we missed anyone; our family is very large.

I know how this world is full of disappointments, we can stop and think of something of far greater value, a gift more precious than diamond or gold. This gift is Love, Joy and Peace. It's by asking Jesus Christ, God's own son, to come into our hearts.

A funeral service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 11 a.m. Graveside services followed at the Donald J. Ruhl Memorial Cemetery in Greybull. Visitation was held at the church prior to the funeral service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atwood Family Funeral Directors.
