Paintbrush named 2A runner-up
Greybull High School’s 2021-22 yearbook staff received a Golden Pony and was named 2A runner-up at the Wyoming High School Student Publications Association State Journalism Convention held recently in Laramie.
Six students (Catcher Russell, Emerald Jordan, Sarah Murph, Selena Munoz, Grainger Russell and Lucia Garcia) made the trip. While there, students attended workshops on subjects ranging from graphic design and photography to story writing and ad sales.
Several members of the 2021-22 staff also garnered individual awards.
Emerald Jordan won a Golden Pony and was the all-state champion in photography. She also won a Bronze Star in design.
Grainger Russell won a Golden Pony and was the all-state champion in newspaper design. He also earned a Silver Spur in photography.
Catcher Russell won a Silver Spur in yearbook design and a Bronze Star in photography.
Josselyn Jara won a Silver Spur in yearbook design.
Kelsie McColloch won a Bronze Star in photography.
Several 2022 GHS graduates also received awards at the convention.
Liz Boyer won a Silver Spur and was state runner-up in photography.
Elaina Howe won Bronze Stars in photography and yearbook design.
Jose Atilano received a Silver Spur in yearbook design and a Bronze Star in photography.
Grace Sanford won a Bronze Star in photography.
Maliyah Porras received a Bronze Star in yearbook design.
“ I am so proud of the work our kids did,” said GHS yearbook advisory Lynn Forcella. “I can honestly say this was their book from beginning to end and they did a great job.”
