Ray C. Stearns

Ray C. Stearns, a 78-year-old Lander resident, passed away at his home, May 18, 2024.
Ray was born in Greybull, Wyo., to Clair and Elise (Zednick) Stearns. He grew up in Greybull and did some college in Sheridan. From his first marriage, Ray had two children, Ann and Chris Stearns. Ray also gained two stepchildren with his second marriage, Liesa Sanderson Hill and Brandon Sanderson. And later in his second marriage, he had two more children, Jeremy Stearns and Trisha Stearns Kimsey.
His employment history was mostly railroad line maintenance, road construction (building bridges) and surveying/ drilling for bentonite. Ray was a very caring man and loved his family so much.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother Clair and Elise (Zednick) Stearns, sister Linda Murray, nephew Curtis Murray, granddaughter Tairyn Stearns and stepdaughter Liesa Hill.
Survivors include his wife Lenny; five children, Ann Stearns of Cody, Chris (Stephanie) Stearns of Thornton, Colo., Jeremy Stearns of Casper, Trisha Kimsey of Lander; stepson Brandon Sanderson (Sarah) of Stirum, N.D., and 12 grandchildren, Brennan, Evan, Bailey, Cash, Cody, Wyatt, Hunter, Brookelynn, Aspen, Tristin, Blake and Sadie.
The funeral service was held Friday, May 31, 2024, at Hudson’s Funeral Home in Lander.
