Rita Mae Albrecht passed away in Billings, Mont., on Jan. 15, 2024, surrounded by family.
Rita was born Oct. 19, 1957, to Lloyd and Lila Albrecht in Roundup, Mont. She grew up with her sister Rona Kay and brothers Ross and Roger.
She received her schooling in Roundup and spent many happy summers on her Uncle Bob’s ranch.
Rita moved to Wyoming and met Robert Shaw, her future husband, in 1979. They were married in 1981.
Their first son, Jacob, was born in Thermopolis in 1983. The couple moved to Sequim, Wash., in 1986, and moved onto the Shaw Farm.
A second son, Jessie, was born in 1988 in Sequim.
Robert worked at Bliemisters Cabinet Shop and Rita worked as a head chief and master baker at Jean’s Deli for nearly 20 years. The couple later divorced.
In 2001, she relocated to Basin, Wyo., to be closer to family. She worked at different restaurants in the area. After retiring, she spent time gardening with her sister Kay and spending time with family including her granddaughters, Hanna and Ashlynne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and sister-in-law Tina.
Rita is survived by her sons Jacob (Mindy) Shaw and Jessie, both of Basin; sister Rona Kay Hopkin (Rod) and sister-in-law, Carol Albrecht, all of Basin; her granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be July 7, 2024 at 11 a.m. in Basin, Wyo., at the Basin Recreation Center.
