Robert (Bob) Carter

Robert (Bob) Carter, 80, passed away Sept. 15, 2021.

Bob was born in Laurel, Mont., but lived the majority of his life in the northwest corner of Wyoming. Soon after graduating from Cody High School in 1958, Bob started his two career paths. He began working for the Wyoming Highway Department and he joined the Wyoming National Guard.

It was during this time he met his future wife, Sandi Lehti. They were introduced while she was a student teacher in Cody, and a few years later were married. They moved to Powell, Wyo., and their life as a couple began. A few short years later, they welcomed their twin daughters, Tanya and Teri. In 1974, advancements in the Highway Department had the family moving to Basin, Wyo. This is where Bob would remain for the rest of his life.

Bob continued to serve in the National Guard and work for the Highway Department for the next 30-plus years. Finishing up with the Highway Department as a district equipment supervisor and reaching the rank of brigadier general in the Guard. Bob retired and began traveling back and forth to California, relishing the fact that if he planned it right, he could wear shorts all year around. Bob would often reminisce about his work and his time of service. While he enjoyed the projects and endeavors, it was the people he worked and served with that would bring a smile to his face.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Carter, his wife Sandi Carter, and his sister Linda Bond. He is survived by his daughters Tanya and Teri Carter. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In memory of Bob please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place at the Antelope Butte crematory in Greybull, Wyo., by Atwood Family Funeral Directors.
