Timothy Lee Miller
Dec. 18, 1959 - July 17, 2025
Timothy Lee Miller passed away on July 17, 2025, in Shell, Wyo., at the age of 65. He was born on Dec. 18, 1959, in Carson City, Mich. He was the fourth of six children born to Ken and Elsie Miller and the family lived in Michigan until moving to Wyoming in 1966 when Tim was 6 years old.
Tim lived in Greybull for six months before his family moved to Shell Creek, to the Smith ranch, where he gained a love of farm animals, especially horses, and the great outdoors. He spent many years hunting, fishing, camping, and enjoying other activities with his family in the Big Horn Mountains.
After some time, the family moved back into Greybull where Tim’s father Ken owned and ran the Conoco Gas Station. Tim worked for his dad at the station after school and grew to love mechanic work. He bought and built his first hot rod truck at the age of 15. His interest and love for mechanics helped him later in life when he became an airplane mechanic.
Tim and Sharon were married and welcomed three of their five children, Tyson, Matthew, and Jill, while living in Wyoming. Tim ranched at several different ranches during this time and then in 1986, he decided to leave ranching in pursuit of a more profitable career. They moved to Rexburg, Idaho where he attended airplane mechanic school.
After he graduated with an A&P license, the family moved to Washington State where they welcomed their fourth child, Talli. Tim took a job in downtown Seattle for Superior Air Handling, installing air conditioning ducts in high rise buildings, but this was only for a short time before he was able to put his Airplane Mechanic License to use when he was hired by The Boeing Company. He worked for Boeing for one and a half years before getting offered a job at Northwest Airlines in Minneapolis, Minn.
The family moved from Washington to Minnesota where they welcomed their fifth and last child, Braden. While living in Minnesota, he had the opportunity to coach baseball and basketball travel teams for some of his children and loved that time he was able to spend with them. Tim worked on 747s at Northwest Airlines for 10 years before injuring his back on the job. This ended his career at Northwest Airlines and the family moved back to Greybull in 1999.
Tim and Sharon bought a little place in the country where they lived for the next 14 years. Tim enjoyed having his grandkids come out to shoot guns, ride horses and four-wheelers, and help with various chores and animals. But as the grandkids started moving away to other states, Tim and Sharon missed them being close, so they followed and found themselves in Arizona, where they spent the next seven years enjoying mild winters and family time.
They moved back to Wyoming in 2021 and were blessed to build a beautiful place on Trapper Creek where Tim could enjoy the wildlife and views of the mountain.
Tim suffered chronic pain for 25 years from multiple back surgeries and Spinal Arachnoiditis, and was diagnosed with terminal cancer in March 2025. Through all those difficult years, he continued to be an amazing father and grandfather, in spite of the pain, and while living in Minnesota, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in various callings until his health no longer allowed it, but would help friends, neighbors and his family as much as possible. He had many dogs over the years and considered them some of his most cherished and loyal companions. The love he had for his family was fierce and protective and was the source of the greatest joy of his life.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents Ken and Elsie Miller, brothers-in-law Steven Jensen, Joel Smith, and Mike Smith, and nephews Ryan Mollenbrink and Jeff Smith.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Smith Miller of 47 years; children, Tyson (Julia) Miller, Matt (Erika) Miller, Jill (Brad) Sylvester, Talli (Quinn) Larsen, and Braden (Shelby) Miller; 23 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; siblings; Terry Anguiano, Connie (Jim) Porter, Mike Miller, Tom (Lori) Miller, Jeff (Jep) Miller, and numerous other loved ones.
Funeral services were held at the Greybull LDS church on Saturday, July 19, 2025, and interment followed at the Whaley Cemetery.
