William Earl Clifton (Bill) and Lorretta June Clifton (June)

May 29,1931 - Sept. 14, 2025 | June 21, 1937 - Oct. 21, 2023

 

Dad passed from this world peacefully on Sept. 14,2025. He has now joined his wife of 47 years, June, in the loving embrace of our Lord.

He graduated from Greybull High School in 1950, and soon after, was drafted into the Navy. He began his tour of duty Feb. 19, 1952, and ended his active duty status June 29, 1956, but continued to serve in the Reserves for an additional two years. He fought in the Korean War where he was stationed in Hong Kong, Japan and the Philippines on the carriers Wasp and Shangrala. After his service in the Navy, he attended Carroll College, graduating in 1959. He soon moved back to Greybull to work for Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement in 1993. He is preceded in death by his wife, June Clifton; mother, Helen Clifton; father, Earl Clifton; and sisters, Nancy and Beverly. 

He is survived by his sister Carol; son Brett (Teresa) Ready; daughters, Charla Cain, Mary (Robbie) Clifton, Lora (Larry) Chism and Angela Clifton; grandchildren, Shaeleen Ready, Hank Ready, Nicholas Nolen, Nathan Nolen, Jen Quillinan, Richard Clifton, Jed Chism, Kyra Montana and Kyree Montana, also many great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all of Dad’s friends and extended family, Bruce Brazill, Duane Brazill, Mary Brazill, Patty Tyrell, Wynn Pippin and so many others. 

Special thanks to his best friend and caretaker, Mikey (Kevin) Bennett, the nurses and staff at the V.A. in Billings, Mont. We cannot express enough how much we appreciate your dedication to our father.

Memorial services for Bill and June Clifton will be held Sept. 26, 2025, at noon, Yellowstone National Cemetery, Laurel, Mont. 

Please join his family for a luncheon immediately after the services at the Meadowlark Brewing Company at 3970 Pierce Pkwy, Billings, Mont.
