JV Buffs sweep the field
The Greybull Buff JV volleyball team mowed down all five of its opponents, in the home gym and in front of hometown fans, last week at the Western Wyoming Volleyball Challenge.
In opening action Friday, Greybull beat Wind River, 21-16, 21-14, and followed that with a victory over Kemmerer, 21-14, 21-18.
In what could be called an understatement, Coach Christine Armel said, “Friday was a successful day for the girls. I had moved girls to new positions against Wind River as we were missing a few. Brooklyn Allen played setter and did a great job. Angela Myers led the team with serves.
“The girls did a great job and worked hard in trying to adjust in different roles.”
Their winning ways Saturday started with a victory over Big Piney, 21-16, 21-19.
Farson-Eden had been waiting in the wings to take on the Buffs, and in a shortened match due to time restraints, went down to Greybull, 21-18, 16-12.
In the tournament finale, it was the Wyoming Indian Lady Chiefs on the other side of the net and the Buffs dispatched them in short order, 21-11, 21-8.
Coach Armel, once again, moved players around. She explained, “We had girls moving from JV to JV2, so the girls were able to get lots of playing time.”
Caitlyn Hunt moved from the middle position to the outside position during play Saturday and Armel said, “She did a great job playing offense and defense. Overall, it was a successful weekend for the JV team.”
The Buffs head south for Thermopolis for the Bobcat Invitational Friday and Saturday.
