‘Out of this World’ theme of homecoming week at GHS
Greybull High School has released plans for what it hopes to be an “Out of this World” homecoming Monday, Sept. 30 through Saturday, Oct. 5.
Students and staff are encouraged to show their spirit by dressing up. Monday is Color Wars, Tuesday is Twin/Clone Day, Wednesday is Neon Day, Thursday is Cowboys vs. Aliens and Friday is Blue and Gold.
A new addition to the homecoming lineup is a community barbecue Thursday, Oct. 3. Georgia Antley Hunt, who is planning it, said more than two dozen businesses quickly got on board, offering to pitch in.
The barbecue will start at 5 p.m. in the Buff Gym parking lot and last until the food runs out. Everyone is invited. The meal will feature pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, cole slaw, chips, pasta salad, and drinks.
The barbecue will lead into boys volleyball at 6 p.m., girls football at 7 p.m. and the burning of the G at 8 p.m.
The parade starts at 10:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4.
The final day of homecoming week, Saturday, Oct. 5, will feature the homecoming football game at 1 p.m., with the crowning of the king and queen at halftime, followed by volleyball matches versus Tongue River at 4, 5 and 6 p.m. and the homecoming dance from 9 to midnight.
King and queen candidates will be announced in next week’s issue of the Standard.
