The Warrior Bike Program is a non-profit outdoor therapy program that supports veterans transitioning from military service. They bike 3,700 plus miles of the Great American Rail Trail.
The Great American Rail Trail is a project of the Rails to Trails Conservancy. It crosses 12 states from Washington, DC to Washington State.
The ride started in Washington DC on May 9. Seven veterans are riding this year. Their profiles may be seen at https://warriorexpeditions.org/expeditions/warrior-bike/great-american-r...
Sarah Zeller from Warrior Expeditions is coordinating community support. The veterans should be in this area at the end of June, passing through Big Horn County after spending the night in Worland.
But support arrangements are being made now.  They are looking for transportation support, meals and possibly lodging for the cyclists as they travel through the county.
Lodging needs include taking a shower, doing laundry and a bed.  Some community members provide their home for the veterans to spend the night. Other community members provide funds for a motel room.
Transportation provides rides around town so the veterans can purchase items to resupply. The riders burn 4,000-6,000 calories per day. Any meal is welcome.
Should you want to help in anyway, please contact Zeller at szeller@warriorhike.org or 845-270-3185.
