100 Years Ago: Man who built electric chair dies in it

It is a notable fact that the man who built the electric chair died in it. His name was Charles Justice and he had two weaknesses. One was a mania for experimenting with electricity and the other was for stealing. For the latter, he served three terms in the Columbus prison, and while “doing his third,” he designed and built the chair. His work granted him a pardon by Governor Harmon, but once freed, Charles Justice resumed living a crime-filled life, and after one particular theft, he killed a man in an attempt to cover it up. He was then convicted of first-degree murder and was led to the death chair, which he had designed for others.

In the Thanksgiving football games, Greybull defeated Basin by a score of 27 to 6 and Worland defeated Thermopolis by a score of 14 to 0. This puts Greybull, Worland, and Thermopolis all in the same class.

“Bits and Pieces” from the Greybull High School Paintbrush: The algebra class is delving deep into the subtraction and addition of sign numbers and the geometry students are battling polygons.  Typing II again got to scramble for the typewriter of their choice.  There wasn’t much of a fight, because everyone had his machine chosen. The chemistry classes are now fighting to gain the facts of ions and are still puzzled in the neutralization of acids and bases.  And do these chemistry students have such a crush on Miss Fletcher that they just can’t stay out of her room at night?

Tom Wilkinson has a special kind of adrenaline pumping through his system.  Last Saturday, the last day for Wilkinson to break Talboom’s passing record, Wilkinson had a good day in the field.  He’s done the same thing since he was in junior high and local sports fans could fill this page with stories of his coolness under fire.
