This is the fair season when the products of the soil and manufactured articles of every section are brought together and put on display for comparison by the producers and the inspection of investors. Every community or county that takes pride in the things it produces has a fair.
Sept. 27 and Sept. 28 will be the anniversary of the biggest flood present inhabitants ever witnessed in the Big Horn River. At that time, the fill at the river bridge went out.

Sept. 6, 1934
Labor Day celebrations: The tug-of-war between Shell and Emblem during the Greybull Labor Day celebration was won by the Shell team. The Shell folk proved they had some steady pullers.
The rolling pin throwing contest was won by Mrs. Dennis Cusack, who threw a 7 1/2-pound pin 50 feet, 10 inches. This is said by some to be an all-time record for the Big Horn basin.

Sept. 7, 1944
Mrs. Miley, former Greybull resident and wife of a Burlington railway engineer, was found dead in the locked washroom of an eastbound train near Whitefish, Mont.
A freak hailstorm hit this section late Friday afternoon and caused considerable damage to crops in the lower Shell Creek area.
Now stationed at Seattle, Wash, at pier 91, Richard (Dickie) M. Karhu, HA 1c, is the son of Mrs. Margaret Karhu, formerly of Greybull and now of Seattle. Dickie graduated from Greybull High School in 1943.

Sept. 3, 1954
The Greybull Standard lost another employee last week when Oren Wilcox, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Wilcox, was accepted by the Navy for enlistment.
The barking of their collie dog is credited with saving the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pruett and their three children in a fire of unknown origin that burned their house to the ground about 2 a.m. Friday at the Groseclose farm two miles south of Greybull.

Sept. 3, 1964
Tim Paris, 20, who was living in Casper, suffered a broken back in a car accident Thursday evening. He is reported to be in serious condition. His brother Wayne, 19, and Denise Ward, 17, were going to Casper to see him Saturday when he lost control of his car. The car rolled down an embankment, overturning three times. Wayne suffered a severely broken nose and Denise suffered a severe laceration of her forehead that will require plastic surgery.
Cody comes to town with a powerhouse Friday night to open the 1964 football season for the Greybull Buffs.

Sept. 5, 1974
A school bus carrying football players and coaches back to Greybull following a football game in Tongue River encountered trouble near Shell Falls when their brakes all but failed. A telephone call brought out a new bus to pick up the passengers after a wait in Shell Canyon.
