Nellie Taylor Ross became governor of Wyoming Monday, the first woman to be inducted as chief executive of an American commonwealth. The inauguration of Governor Ross was perhaps the first time in history that a governor-elect wore a hat during the inauguration ceremony.
At the stroke of 12 on New Year’s Eve, at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Black, Miss Persis Mary Ann Black was married to Peck Diederich. The bride graduated from Greybull High School.

Upon the authorization of Mayor Green Simpson and the Greybull City Council, a complete landscape development plan for the construction of the George Washington Memorial Park was submitted to the town authorities this week, This park is located in the old grove of trees on the west bank of the Big Horn River in the southeast part of town.
Conductor: “Sorry madam, but we have learned that the station where you intend to get off at has been burned to the ground.” Lady: “That’s all right, they’ll probably have it rebuilt by the time this train gets there.”

Little John Brewer, 7-year-old son of Mrs. Esther Brewer, has been released from St. Luke’s Hospital and taken to his home. He is suffering from a rare ailment, said to be incurable.
Robert George Reed, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Reed, and Charles William Stevens, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Stevens, left Monday for Cheyenne to take the final examinations for enlistment in the Navy.

L.E. (Sonny) Rice, operator of Rice’s Body Shop, called The Standard Monday morning to tell us that “spring is here, there’s birds all over the place!” He went on to explain that early Monday morning a “whole bunch” of robins, flickers, and even magpies was holding a convention in the lots around his body shop and at Merton Bond’s yard.
Dean Foley has moved his jewelry store from the Brooks building to the space in the Odd Fellows building formerly occupied by S.W. Davis.

Rodney Bruce Collingwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Riley Collingwood of Greybull, makes his debut in the new year as south Big Horn County’s first baby. He was born Saturday, Jan. 9.
Sheriff L.C. Brinkerhoff said the story that the body of Ted Louie, who disappeared 15 years ago, was under a concrete slab in the Shoshone Bar in Lovell was “still a rumor as far as we are concerned” but he said his office was definitely going to check out the story.
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Loni McKinney was badly damaged Sunday morning and nearly all their furniture and clothing was lost.
