The Greybull High School basketball team won two basketball games last Friday and Saturday.  On Friday they ran up against the strong Riverton team and won, 23-9. The guarding of Kershner and Douglass was featured in the contest.  Kirk did some excellent work covering the floor and passing.

It is with deep sorrow that we take up the work of this second term without the guiding hand of our faithful principal, Mr. Luckenbil. We feel that some power is lacking. When Mr. Luckenbil came to us two years ago, he won a place in our hearts as a teacher, a place which grew dearer and stronger when he took the office of principal. He has worked loyally and hard for Greybull High School and we, the pupils, appreciate what he has done.

Pete Peterson, who last week suffered injuries to his eye while working at the refinery, is under the care of a specialist in Billings.  It was reported here today that Mr. Peterson’s eye might be saved and that he may regain a portion of the sight.  His condition was critical for several days, but he is now resting better.

Greybull’s most popular place now seems to be the ice-skating rink built by the town and fire department on lots donated by Earl Reilly at Greybull Avenue and Third Street.

Teenagers will again be guests of the Greybull Elks Lodge when a dance will be held following the Lander-Greybull basketball game here Friday night, it was announced by Dr. J.J. Coyne, youth activities committee chairman. Music for the dance will be donated by the Orchets, local dance orchestra which has played for previous teenage parties at the Elks, Dr. Coyne said.

The post office department has approved the extension of city delivery service to the north part of town, with this region to be served by a mounted route similar to rural delivery.  The service will be started as soon as the houses are properly numbered, and rural route type mailboxes are erected at the curb line.

From “Getting the Bull by the Tail” by Bruce Kennedy: “The heaviest traffic on a Wyoming highway outside city areas during November was between Greybull and Basin when the 24-hour traffic volume averaged 1,738 cars.  The heaviest single hour traffic was between 4 and 5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 24 — a day before Thanksgiving — when 194 cars went across the road.”

From “Thought by Vonnie” (Harnden): The average American made over four visits to his physician last year and almost two visits to the dentist.  I know just how “Average American” feels.  After that first trip to the dentist, it’s mighty easy to chicken out when you get “almost there” the second time.

The state’s longest streak in basketball could be broken Friday night when Greybull, winless in 37 games, meets the Basin Bobcats at the Basin gym.  Both teams are without a win in Big Horn Basin play, but the game is being looked on by Greybull as the start of the turning point.
