Accident sends motorcyclist to hospital

A 72-year-old Sheridan man was injured Thursday, June 13 when the motorcycle he was riding tipped over and skidded on U.S. Highway 14 east of Shell.
Trooper Austin Willette was unable to provide the man’s name, but said he was transported via Life Flight to a hospital in Billings with injuries that weren’t believed to be life threatening.
The injured man told the trooper that he had been riding motorcycles for more than 35 years and been over that mountain pass many times before.
The cause of the accident was unclear.  Willette said the man could not recall anything that happened prior to the crash and there was no evidence at the scene of a dead deer or that a second vehicle was involved.
Willette said the man didn’t appear to be traveling at a high rate of speed, estimating it at approximately 45 miles per hour.
The man was wearing a helmet.
