Bandit hurlers silence Powell bats in majors action
With the fourth graders on their Yellowstone trip, what was left of the South Big Horn Little League’s two minors teams took on Otto Thursday night at the Art Schutte Sports Complex in Greybull and lost 15-1.
The Bandits had 21 players suited up and lined up to bat, but just 15 did in the four-inning game. Sawyer Hetzel had a hit and scored the Bandits’ only run. The other players who were credited with a hit included Danilo Marquez, Deklan Brown and Luis Sifuentes.
The Rattlers scored their 15 runs on five hits and 14 walks.
Majors
South Big Horn Little League’s majors team had a much busier week, winning one, losing one and tying one in action Tuesday, May 20 and Thursday, May 22.
The Bandits began the week with two games against Powell.
The first one ended after six with neither team scoring a run.
Starter Jesse Craft spun four strong, giving up just one hit while striking out nine. Korbin Stewart followed with two innings of no-hit, five-strikeout relief.
Kruson Keisel was credited with the Bandits’ only hit.
Powell won the nightcap, 3-1, with all its runs coming in the first inning off Kruson Keisel. He pitched into the second before giving way to Quaide Houchin, who blanked Powell from there.
Houchin led the batsmen with a pair of hits while Jayden Waddell had the other and scored the Bandits’ only run.
The Bandits wrapped up their week with a 10-0 win over Powell Thursday. Good pitching made it possible, as Stewart and Houchin gave up just a single hit while striking out 13 in the six-inning contest.
The Bandits had eight hits. Daniel Stamstad and Kade Julson led the way with two apiece. Korbin Stewart had the only extra-base knock, a triple.
