Can you recall a balmier winter?

A whole new year is before us.  What we do with it is entirely up to us.  I did make a resolution and started today with my outlook for the day - it was “persevere.”

The day is just half gone and I have been challenged repeatedly to do just that — persevere.  My resolution may be harder to keep than I thought.  Had a wonderful New Year’s Eve dinner at Lisa’s with Scott and Dave and Pam.  Wonderful friends.  Happy to catch up on their family, share some memories, etc.  And it’s always fun to catch the conversation between Dave and Scott.  You can’t be sad, or blue, or out of sorts, when you’re in their company.  Had a wonderful time, delicious dinner, with enough leftovers to bring home and feed me for at least a couple of days.

My New Year’s Eve celebration ended about 10 or 10:30, and that was okay by me. Was determined to see the ball drop, especially as it was to be followed by a ball filled with red, white and blue to welcome in our celebration of 250 years. But of course, know it went on without me watching.

Scott did get his pickup “fixed” enough that I can ride in the front seat, not share the back seat with Brim.  We got along fine on our way back from Dayton, but my “granddog’ has to have his head out the back window at least three or four times on a ride of over 20 miles.  Luckily Christmas Eve was a balmy 50 or so degrees, so I didn’t suffer.  But it bothered me when Scott got to rolling my window down right after he did Brim’s.  Finally told him I had no desire to stick my head out and flap my ears in the wind.

Cannot believe our balmy winter.  Keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.  How many of you can remember a December as balmy as ours has been?

Just know that Mother Nature has some surprises for us but I’ll enjoy the balmy weather until she lets us know what she has in store for us.   It’s back to reality after this weekend. School is back in session; kids are back on the basketball court, wrestlers on the mat.

All aside, I have been watching more college football this past week than I have in years.  It sure beats the constant replays of what has happened in 2025.

And for all you high school seniors, enjoy the next five months of school —  the time will fly by. Yes, it really will; you’ll be surprised how fast the days will pass. Have fun, make the best of the rest of your senior year.  Because remember that come May when you graduate, once they hand you your diploma and you walk out of the gym, you will be putting your student life behind you and you will be entering the adult world.
