Community clothing drive close to organizer’s heart

Jillian Lorash was able to clothe her daughter, stepdaughter and herself thanks to a church community clothing drive in Montana. Now, she is doing the same in this community.

“It was awesome. The church did the drives twice a year. Once before it got cold. Then again just before schools let out for summer. When I moved back to Greybull, I thought that this community is similar in size demographics and gets as cold.”

She asked a few groups if they would take it on. None did, so she decided to do it herself. She started collecting about a month ago. Since then, Lorash has received clothing from the group Motherhood. Then Riverside school nurse Katie Winters offered to have a collection point at the Laura Irwin Elementary School.

Lorash has been inundated with clothes. There are mounds in her garage that she and her daughter are sorting through. They are organizing them by size. “So, if you need a 4T girls, just look for the sign at the event,” she said.

Los Gabanes Event Center in Greybull donated the space for the giveaway. It is Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lorash said the Greybull Girl Scout Group and Greybull High School Student Council will be helping.

Lorash is only collecting clothing and shoes. Everything is free and she encourages people to take what their family needs. You may text questions to her at 307-899-1824.
