GMS’s girls basketball A team downed Wind River in an exciting neck-and-neck home game on Friday, a 35-31 victory for the Buffs.

“Our defense is what won us the game,” head coach Becky Eichelberger said. “It was intense and exciting to watch our team keep their composure when things got heated.”

Emily Didrickson led on offense with 11 points, followed by Josey Whaley with eight. Against Meeteetse on Saturday, the A team again relied on its defense to secure a 17-13 victory.

“In Meeteetse we had a much harder time getting the ball to go in the hoop, but once again, our defense was able to stop the ball in crucial moments allowing us opportunities to score and win the game,” Eichelberger said.

The B team saw similar success against Wind River, winning 18-15. However, Meeteetse set them back with a 24-10 loss on Saturday.

Up next, the Buffs will travel to Thermop on Friday, Nov. 21 with games at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. They will play in Burlington on Saturday at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Monday they host Rocky Mountain at 4:15 p.m., 5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.
