Department of Health confirms Wyoming’s third case of measles

CHEYENNE (WNE) — The Wyoming Department of Health has confirmed a third case of measles in an unvaccinated adult from Carbon County.

Measles is a highly contagious infection that can cause severe illness. The person was exposed outside of the United States. The WDH is working with EHSS and MHCC to notify exposed individuals. 

“We are asking people who may have been exposed to watch for measles symptoms for 21 days past the exposure date and consider avoiding crowded public places or high-risk settings such as daycare centers,” said Clay Van Houten, state epidemiologist with WDH, in a news release.

Monitoring for symptoms is especially critical for people who have not been vaccinated with the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine.
