Greybull High School’s 2024-25 yearbook staff recently achieved 1A/2A All-State Runner Up at the Wyoming State High School Yearbook Competition. The award extends a long line of success for advisor Lynn Forcella’s yearbook class, bringing home the highest rating of Golden Pony as well as six individual honors for yearbook staff.

Winners were announced at the Wyoming Student Media Convention on Oct. 20 at Northwest College in Powell. Dakoby Bentley captured top honors in both photography and writing, earning State 1A/2A Photographer of the Year and State 1A/2A Writer of the Year. Teammate Camila Acuna followed close behind as 1A/2A Photographer of the Year Runner-Up and 1A/2A Writer of the Year Runner-Up.

Additional awards were earned by Jasmine Rodriguez, who earned third in Photography and Bronze Star Status Writing. Acuna, Bentley and Yisel Mendez all earned Bronze Stars for their design portfolios.

“Very cool that the students created everything from scratch. Very unique. It looks like most every event, activity, sport, and academics were covered. This book will carry memories for so many. Well done!” the 1A/2A judge wrote.

The Greybull High School yearbook scored only three points short of a perfect 140, falling only to Thermopolis. The 2024-25 yearbook staff included Grainger Russell, Aleksey McColloch, Julie Lopez, Fatima Chavez, Lucia Garcia, Bentley, Mendez, Jasmine Rodriguez, Acuna, Cord Edeler, Wyatt Whaley, Perla Rodriguez, McKenzie Potter, Isaac Vigil, and Shawn August.

“At the end of the day, we did very well and our students are extremely proud of their accomplishment,” Forcella said. “They made a great book for their constituents and told the story of the year creatively and with commitment.  I feel like the staff went above and beyond in taking ownership of their book.”
