Giving programs a holiday tradition
The Big Horn Basin’s businesses and organizations are already on their way to spreading holiday cheer, with opportunities to give to locals in need.
CHRISTMAS BASKETS
The Greybull Elks will put together and deliver their Christmas baskets, with names of families in need to be submitted by Dec. 17; the only stipulation is they must reside within town limits. An account has been set up at Big Horn Federal for donations under “Christmas Baskets.” For more information, contact Sherri Wilkinson at (307) 765-4419 or (307) 899-4358.
SANTA PAWS
Felines and Friends Animal Rescue will accept donations for the spay and neuter of rescued animals at Saam Veterinary Clinic and Rising K Veterinary Services in Basin. Felines and Friends also accepts pet food donations at any time. Contact Barbara Anne Green at the Republican Rustler, 307-568-2458, for more info.
FORT SHILOH
Basin First Baptist Church is running a food and paper drive for Fort Shiloh in Lovell. Fort Shiloh is a religious trade school that teaches Native Americans to weld. There are about 29 young men in the program this year. The church will accept donations of food and toiletries starting Dec. 1.
COMMUNITY DINNER
Wyoming Retirement Center will host a free family dinner for the community Dec. 16, starting at 5 p.m. Games and fun for all. On Dec. 19, they will run Christmas on the Hill with activities and games for kids and the rest of the family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
HOLIDAY HAMS
Basin Area Food Pantry is organizing a holiday ham drive. Donations can be made at the back entry of the Basin Area Chamber of Commerce at 407 West C Street before Dec. 20, when the hams will be doled out at Wheelers IGA parking lot from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. For more info, call Charlene Anderson at (307) 273-4340 or Lori Thon at (307) 250-1678
TOYS FOR TOTS
Big Horn Federal will soon receive their Toys for Tots donation box, which will reside in the lobby. Unwrapped, new toys can be dropped off for children.
