GMS home meet Friday
Greybull Middle School opens its six-meet spring track-and-field season on its home oval Friday afternoon, with field and running events starting at noon.
“We are so excited to get to compete here this year,” said Coach Becky Eichelberger, noting the loss of last year’s meet due to inclement weather. “It looks like Mother Nature is going to have a beautiful day for some good competition.”
Numbers “are pretty comparable” to last year, she said.
The roster lists 46 athletes: 18 eighth graders, 16 seventh graders and 12 sixth graders.
“The eighth-grade class is larger than I expected, but good talent from both the males and the females,” said Eichelberger.
Eighth grade team members include Avery Allen, Ashlyn Chacon, Addison Coscarelli, Lydia Craw, Caitlyn Hunt, Adeline Kunkel, Angela Myers, Soraya Porras, MaKenna Schell, Jordi Araiza, Leon Bankhead-Danner, Aaron Corral, Xsavier Garay, William Harlow, Ben Jacobs, Elijah Rice, Phillip Thomas and Xavier VanderPloeg.
Lovely Araiza, Joey Boyer, Wendy Garcia, Ella Keisel, Reagan Vigil, Angelo Aguilar, Alan Burgos, Baron Eichelberger, Tristan Gross, Jace Julson, Braxten Link, Jayden Marchant, Cody Myers, Cruz Sorenson, Riley Wiggins and Liam Wisehart represent the seventh-grade class.
The sixth graders are Mia Aguilar, Kenzie Blair, Amelia Emmett, Maythe Garay, Julie Garcia, Selena Mendez, Lydia Rios, Josey Whaley, Sophia Wilkinson, Kayson Herebia, Jace Pouska and Easton Spragg.
This year’s schedule also features meets April 13 in Lovell, April 20 in Shoshoni, April 26 in Burlington and April 26 in Powell. Rocky Mountain hosts the Big Horn Conference meet May 3.
Eichelberger said, “Our goal for the season is to find the events in which each athlete will be able to have the most success personally and for our team.”
