A few days removed from repeating as conference champions, Greybull Middle School’s eighth-grade boys made a strong impression at the Best of the Best competition May 13 in Lander.

Siul Valdez-Rodriguez won the 100-meter dash and ran a leg on Greybull’s 400-meter relay team which finish third and set a new school record with a 49.58. Joining him on that trip around the oval were Triston Gross, Riley Wiggins and Cody Myers.

Their time eclipsed the existing record, a 49.66 which was recorded in 2011 by Calder Forcella, Chris Ogg, Colten Flitner and Fabian Davila.

“It wasn’t a day for everyone’s best performance, but it was a day where there were marks that placed many of our athletes in the top five,” said Coach Becky Eichelberger. “We are sending a great group of athletes to the high school level; it will be fun watching them grow and develop into stronger competitors.”
