Greybull woman vying for crown of Miss America

A Greybull woman is in Orlando, Fla., this week, living out her childhood dream of vying for the title of Miss America.

Baylee Drewry, the daughter of Scott and Brandi Drewry of Greybull, was crowned Miss Wyoming last June.  She represented the University of Wyoming in that competition, but this week, she’s representing the entire state.

Fifty-two women are competing to succeed Madison Marsh, who won the title a year ago as the qualifier from Colorado. The field includes a representative of every state, plus District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

A native of California, Drewry arrived in Greybull as a teenager. She was active in school and in the community, playing football (as a middle schooler), wrestling and softball as well as participating in speech and debate.

Though she started high school in Greybull, she graduated from Riverside with the Class of 2021. She ended up at the University of Wyoming, where at the time of her crowning last summer, she was finishing up a bachelor’s degree in history with a concentration in middle eastern history and planning to attend law school.

The Miss America and Miss American Teen pageants began earlier this week.

Local residents who would like to learn more about the pageant and its contestants or vote for America’s Choice can do so at missamerica.org.

For those interested in watching the Miss America finals competition, they will be livestreamed free of charge Sunday, Jan. 5 on PageantVision.com at 5 p.m., Mountain Standard Time.

The Miss America’s Teen finals will be streamed Saturday, Jan. 4, same website and time.
