JV girls claim win at Rocky Mt.
The Lady Buff JV would have loved to sweep both Rocky Mountain and Thermopolis in their conference games last weekend. They squeaked by the Grizzlies, 30-28, Friday in Cowley but got bit by the Bobcats, 38-23, in a Saturday afternoon home game.
Sophomore Brooklyn Allen led scoring against the Grizzlies with eight points; Caitlyn Hunt and Marlee Hensen scored five points each
“We struggled a bit in the first half getting our offense going,” said Coach Nate Boyer. “But we came out hard in the third quarter to take the lead going into the fourth. “ Boyer said the fourth quarter turned into a nail-biter, “but we were able to pull it off even without our swing players, which says a lot for our freshmen.”
Against the Bobcats, Caitlyn Hunt led the offense with 12 with Marlee Hensen had five.
“Thermopolis is an aggressive team and that is something our girls are starting to figure out with regard to matching up with teams like that,” said Boyer. “Things were working out for us defensively the first three quarters, but we ran out of steam in the fourth.”
This weekend is the final week of regular season play.
