It was a good weekend for the Greybull Junior Varsity netters, who held their own with opponents at the Wind River Invitational.

In Friday’s opener the Buffs split with Shoshoni, 8-21 14-11, then went on to take card of Dubois, 21-3 21-6. They ended the day by sweeping Big Piney 21-20 20-13, which was also cut short due to the time limit.

“This was a really good week for us,” according to Coach Armel, who was proud of her young team’s weekend play.

“With our libero out, I rearranged our line up and had some girls in new positions. Angela Myers stepped up to set for the team and did an amazing job. [She] really improved as the day continued. Caitlyn Hunt and Shelby Hunt were part of our defensive crew, and were doing a great job covering the back row and picking up anything that came their way. I felt as the day continued, they found a way to really work together.”

The Buffs continued to play good volleyball Saturday, opening with a victory over Wind River, 21-10, 10-6.

The JV team closed out the tournament with a win over WIHS, 21-11

“Saturday, I really pushed the girls to work on their skills in each game,” explained Armel. “Skills are going to be a huge focus and we really will be working on fine-tuning as the weeks continue.”
