JV netters show growth, grit in matchups with 3A teams
The Lady Buff JV fought hard against 3A Lovell and Worland last week, with more tough competition on the horizon as they head into the Big Horn Invite on Friday.
The Lovell matchup Sept. 2 ended in a two-set loss for the Buffs, going 12-25 and 18-25.
“This was a tough game for the girls in Lovell, but even though it was tough, they worked hard and fought back every chance they could. I saw great teamwork and positive attitudes even though we were struggling,” coach Christine Armel said. She noted that Angela Myers led the team with consistent serving through the entire game.
Against Worland Sept. 4, the Buffs went one for three, 22-25, 25-22 and 12-25. Armel was proud of the skill and ability shown through this game, despite the overall loss. Ella Keisel and Fallon Hoffman were standout players with aggressive attacks at the net, and Rhianna Gaytan stepped in as libero on defense.
“Overall I was proud of all of the girls and we have things to work on as the season continues,” Armel said.
“We may not have come out with an overall win; however, I am confident in their abilities and as we continue to work and build our skills, I am excited for the rest of the season.”
The Buffs will travel to Big Horn High School on Friday and continue to play through Saturday, with schedule to be announced.
