Lady Buff JV goes 0-2

Despite two losses last week, the Lady Buffs’ JV basketball team is building.

The Buffs saw Rocky Mountain’s JV on Friday, falling 43-37. Coach Nate Boyer noted that with the absence of the team’s two regular posts, the JV struggled to run some of their more effective offenses. Rocky shot to a quick 15-7 lead in the first quarter and stayed ahead. Freshman Kaylee Cervantes led the Buffs with eight points, followed by Avery Allen with six.

Saturday was a tough match against Thermop’s JV, and the Buffs struggled to score. Greybull kept pace the first quarter, ending it behind only 6-5 and stayed in the running until the third, when the Bobcats put up 11 points and Greybull managed only two. Cervantes again put her best foot forward, racking up six for Greybull with teammate Fallon Hoffman sinking five.

“I’m actually feeling very positive about the JV,” Coach Nathan Boyer said. “They are developing very consistently. We have had many hard-fought wins, and the girls are all contributing in some way.”

The Buffs will play Burlington at home Tuesday after press time, then travel to Shoshoni with JV to play at 4 p.m. and varsity at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday Greybull hosts Tongue River at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in Buff Gym.
